Asian Games 2018: Who is Jinson Johnson?


Jinson Johnson is an Indian middle-distance runner. Jihnson was born on 15 Walk 1991[1] in the town of Chakkittapara in Kozhikode area, Kerala. He did his schooling at the St. George’s Secondary School in Kulathuvayal and graduation at the Baselius School in Kottayam. He prepared at the Kerala Games Board’s games lodging in Kottayam, before joining the Indian Armed force in 2009.[2] Starting at July 2015, he is posted as a junior commissioned officer at Hyderabad.

First, Johnson carved himself a piece of history in Jakarta, sprinting to the 1500m gold medal in 3:44.72 minutes ahead of Iran’s Amir Moradi, who turned in a timing of 3:45.62sec, his season’s best effort. Johnson earlier won a silver in the 800m event.

Johnson subsequently became the first Indian in 56 years to win this event at the Asian Games, following Mohinder Singh’s gold at the 1962 Games.
